Terrigal Lagoon Wetlands Restoration Works

This project aims to recreate important forested wetland habitat adjacent to the western arm of Terrigal Lagoon along Florida Rd.  The site has a long history of disturbance, and requires significant regrading and replanting to establish the desired vegetation.  The primary aim of the project is to establish a canopy of native trees including Eucalyptus robusta (Swamp Mahogany) which is an critical winter food source for a wide variety of nectivorous species including threatened species such as the Swift Parrot (Lathamus discolor) and the Grey-headed Flying Fox (Pteropus poliocephalus).  Once the canopy is established, work will begin to re-introduce mid and lower strata vegetation.
