The Tuggerah Lakes Estuary Management Plan (EMP) supports collection of seagrass wrack from locations where it accumulates too frequently to be broken down naturally. Alongside this objective, the EMP seeks to wherever possible, use saltmarsh to encourage natural odorless decomposition of wrack on the foreshores. In order to improve the efficiency of the collection program, a number of new "wrack pads" have been installed to reduce transit times and the cost of disposal by allowing the wrack to drain before removal to waste facility.
These projects have been made possible through funding support from the Australian Government's "Improving Your Local Parks and Environment" grant program.
